Process for the extinction of the General Secretariat of Education and Science.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Within the scope of the process initiated by Decree-Law No. 43-B\/2024, of July 2<\/strong>, The reform, which constituted the first step in the organization of the public sector and the reorganization of the direct administration of the State, based on the aggregation of services dispersed across various entities and the development of existing centers of expertise, was approved. Decree-Law No. 100\/2025, of September 5<\/strong>, which initiated the process of phasing out General Secretariat for Education and Science (SGEC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This process has now reached its conclusion with the publication of definitive list of employees of the General Secretariat for Education and Science<\/strong>, to be reallocated to the integrating entities and services identified in paragraph 2 of article 2 of the aforementioned legal instrument, in accordance with Order No. 987-A\/2026, of January 28<\/strong>, as well as with the publication of Order No. 919-B\/2026, of January 27<\/strong>, which determines the extinction of the General Secretariat of Education and Science, with effects from March 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t

The historical archives and libraries that were under the care of the SGEC, and which it made accessible, were incorporated into the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries.<\/p>\n
