Process for the extinction of the General Secretariat of Education and Science.
Within the scope of the process initiated by Decree-Law No. 43-B/2024, of July 2, The reform, which constituted the first step in the organization of the public sector and the reorganization of the direct administration of the State, based on the aggregation of services dispersed across various entities and the development of existing centers of expertise, was approved. Decree-Law No. 100/2025, of September 5, which initiated the process of phasing out General Secretariat for Education and Science (SGEC).
This process has now reached its conclusion with the publication of definitive list of employees of the General Secretariat for Education and Science, to be reallocated to the integrating entities and services identified in paragraph 2 of article 2 of the aforementioned legal instrument, in accordance with Order No. 987-A/2026, of January 28, as well as with the publication of Order No. 919-B/2026, of January 27, which determines the extinction of the General Secretariat of Education and Science, with effects from March 1, 2026.
Declarations foreseen in article 15 of the LCPA.
For the purposes set out in Article 15 of the LCPA, the multi-year commitments, payments and receipts in arrears, existing as of 31/12/2025, are hereby published.

Subsidies and Public Benefits Granted – 2025
In accordance with Article 5 of Law No. 64/2013, of August 27, the subsidies and public benefits granted in 2025, relating to the General Secretariat for Education and Science and the Government Action for Education, Science and Innovation, are hereby published.

Information and documentation relating to evaluation processes, nominative lists and transparency mechanisms within the scope of human resources management at SGEC.
Documentation and Archive Management – Access to asset information
Information regarding access to historical heritage managed by the General Secretariat and transferred to the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB).
Where did the SGEC's asset documentation go?
The historical archives and libraries that were under the care of the SGEC, and which it made accessible, were incorporated into the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries.
The documentation in the intermediate phase (administrative retention) that was in the Camarate warehouse was also transferred to the purview of this Directorate-General.

Access to historical documentation will be through the Reading Room of the Torre do Tombo National Archives.
